Joann Connington has been a practitioner and instructor of HathaYoga for three decades. Now residing in Crestone, Colorado, she hostsYoga Retreats in Italy, Mexico, Aspen and other Colorado locations annually.

Her main influences in Yoga came from the Iyengar tradition, and she has studied with many of his senior-most teachers over the years. Through that style her instruction reflects the knowledge of alignment in the asanas (postures), so that they can be practiced with stability and ease. Over the years her own style has emerged, different than the typical Iyengar.

Her classes are a continuous flow of poses with attention drawn towards the breath and energy flow throughout the body as well as physical technique.

Joanns teaching reflects her long time study of yoga philosophy which weaves its' way into the presentation of the poses. Students of all levels are welcome as the use of props, such as blocks or straps make the postures adaptable to any body. Joann hopes to impart, through the teachings of yoga, the possibility for each practitioner to discover a calming of mind and joy of existence that continues even after the formal classes have ended.

Her retreat classes are personal, introspective, and meditative even within the company and energy of a like minded group of practitioners. The feeling is that of a holiday and respite, along with a deepening of yoga practice which includes Pranayama (breath control), and sometimes meditation and chanting.

Enjoy the beauty of nature on a healthy vacation with friends. On Joann's retreats thought is given to the accommodations being spacious, clean and conducive to comfort.

Hatha yoga is a path to freedom in mind and body, and
it's never too late to begin!
